Social Networking Ever since it unveiled its platform back in 2007, Facebook seemed to devote more time and attention to expanding its platform outward, via programs like Facebook Connect, and to reorganizing itself around the controversial real-time activity stream. But another problem was just the sheer volume of programs — some good, many not — that developers created for the site. Facebook says there are some 52,000 applications for Facebook, everything from “Texas Hold ‘Em Poker” to “Which James Bond Are You?” and there was really no good way of discovering the good ones, unless your friends happened to be doing it for you and spamming your news feed with notifications.
